Updo Hairstyles

Easy Up do Hairstyles

Whether you need to get hair out of your way quickly or it’s too hot to have it around your neck, a quick up do is definitely the solution. A quick up do will also solve any bad hair days. Unlike popular thought, updos do not need elaborate and time-consuming techniques to put in place. In fact, the most beautiful updos are the simplest ones. Although, they may look as though they took hours to make, most updos do not take as much as 5 minutes. They are excellent when hair needs to be done rapidly or when leaving for work. Quick updos save time and are presentable enough. Here are some nice styles you might consider.

Classic

This is a quite popular and easy one. Grab the hair into a ponytail, twisting it and bringing it towards the top of the head. Secure with a pin. Leave the ends out for a casual, modern look (if you secure the ends, you might look uptight, if not severe).

The Ponytail

This is arguably the preferred hairstyle of men. So you better pay attention, ladies! The great advantage of ponytails is that you can radically change the outlook of your face by simply shifting the position of the ponytail. Ponytails fit anywhere: top of the head, middle or nearer to the neck. They can also differ in appearance depending on whether the hair is straight or curly. Good variants are the “Faux Hawk Pony” (ponytail below the crown of the head) and the “Jeannie Pony” (high ponytail, above or at the crown).

Laid Back Braids

This is a great one for the summer. Start by making waves by using spray gel on freshly washed hair (not needed if your hair is naturally wavy). Tie the hair into two or more buns (depending on your hair length). You have to do this the night before. In the morning, release the buns and part the hair. Weave braids of up to 1 inch wide using wax on each side of the head. Secure with an elastic band. Pull all remaining hair into a ponytail well below the crown. Form a bun. Attach each braid to the bun with pins, safely concealed.

Faux Up do

If your hair is too short for a traditional up do, this one will let you off the hook. Try to obtain greater volume from your hair by using a mousse after having washed your hair. Comb in the mousse for more uniform results. Brush the hair back with your fingers. Blow dry as you continue to brush them back. Set the hair with the appropriate hairspray.

French Twist

This one is good for medium to long hair. Comb the hair back and hold it as a low ponytail three inches from the ends. Twist the ponytail to the right until it is tight. Keep holding with left hand. With the right hands, fold the ends down towards the nape under the twist. Place bobby pins. Finish with a spray.
