Casual Updo Hairstyle
Updos have evolved from the formal or prom hairstyle to being the new
preferred casual hairdo of women. Thought that the updo needs a
hairstylist or a lot of time and effort to come out well? Think again!
Women are more into updos as a quick casual hairstyle. Of course, when
one say casual, one means that the hairdo has to be done relatively
quickly (not a bothersome or time consuming process, since we will just
be in the company of friends). We don’t dress up eternally for a quick
bite amongst friends, do we? A casual updo is now the preferred hairdo
for these occasions because good updos can be done quite quickly and
with minimal effort.
Quick updo hairstyles for long hair Long
hair is the easiest to manipulate and therefore is the quickest to
produce an updo:
- Shampoo and apply hair gel or mousse; blow dry to give volume.
Use hot rollers to make some curls.
- From the hairline, pull a 2-inch portion of hair to the back and
pin it down. Continue until all hair is pinned at the back.
- Finally grab all of it at the back and twist so that the ends
are at the crown and will hide the pins.
- Secure with more pins.
This takes much less time to do than to write. Promise!
Quick updo for straight hair

- Hairspray
- Brush hair back into a ponytail
- Twist into a bun
- Remove a strand of hair at each temple to produce a casual
look.
Quick updo for curly hair
-
Shampoo and condition
- Add hair gel (especially if the hair is fine in texture)
- Part a 2 inch strand from the front and pin it down.
- Pull the remaining hair to the back and hold as if in a
ponytail.
- Twist with the ends on top
- Secure with pins
- At the front, pull sections about 1-inch wide and clip
with tiny bobby pin.

Casual Updos for Short Hair Although it does not
seem very likely, short hair is great for a casual updo.
- Avoid washing; create volume with appropriate gel.
- Have a messy style by not combing the hair directly
and using the pins to hold the hair at different parts
of the crown.
- Leave bangs down or not with this hairstyle.
- Hairspray to hold it throughout the day.
Alternatively, one can pin the back of the hair
towards the crown. Even with a casual hairdo one still
has to understand the link between the hairstyle and the
face and body type. It will not do to have an updo that
does not at all compliment your face or throws your
whole personality into disarray. Hence, it is always
good to ask some nice questions before choosing the
right updo style:
- Does it compliment the face?
- Is the hair long enough?
- Are the right accessories available?
- Do I have enough time?
